Manchester United have reportedly beaten Arsenal to the transfer of Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina in a €35million deal.
In a move that seems to have sped up very quickly, Lemina is said to be on his way to Old Trafford, according to a report from Spanish source Don Balon.
The piece also references interest from Arsenal in the Gabon international, who is said to have been snapped up to replace Paul Pogba, who could now be allowed to join Real Madrid.
The Frenchman looks in need of replacing at Man Utd after a difficult three years, where he’s more often than not made headlines for his antics off the pitch, rather than contributing anything particularly meaningful on it.
Lemina hasn’t exactly set the world alight at Southampton either, but could improve in a better side and clearly has something about him to also attract links with a club like Arsenal.
Let’s see how this story develops and if the deal really is as far along as Don Balon claim.
