Jose Mourinho urged to make controversial change for Manchester United trip to Juventus

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been advised to drop Nemanja Matic and replace him with Ander Herrera for the trip to Juventus.

We’re in action in Turin tonight and it’s pretty hard to see us getting a result if we play anything like we did in the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.

Juve outplayed us that night and could have won by a greater margin, so Mourinho could do well to listen to advice from former United star Owen Hargreaves here…

‘I like Herrera and I’m not sure why he hasn’t played as much considering how important he seemed to be two years ago,’ Hargreaves told BT Sport, as quoted by the Daily Star.

‘As great as Matic is, he seems to have lost a bit of confidence and he doesn’t seem to be at his absolute best.

‘Like Pogba, Matic is about 6ft 3in and if they’re in control of the ball that’s fine but out of possession it’s hard for them against the small, quick guys.

‘The Dybalas of this world for example, so maybe Herrera would be a good partner because he’s a bit more mobile and active out of possession.’

Herrera’s fall down the pecking order in recent times is pretty hard to understand, and Matic’s recent form does leave much to be desired.

In a high-intensity game like this, we need someone with a bit more bite about him in midfield, while one has to wonder if Matic is simply too slow to compete against opposition of this calibre.

Whatever happens tonight, let’s hope we see a team selection that’s designed for us to give it our all to come away with a big result!
